More than 1 million Canadians work from home as an alternative to long commutes and expensive downtown parking — and Park Point by Qualex-Landmark offers a chance to enjoy this two blocks from downtown.
When completed, Park Point will rise 34 storeys over the intersection of 12th Avenue and 2nd Street S.W. There will be 289 suites, a number of which will be live-work townhomes.
Located on the ground level, with their own private entrances, these two-level townhomes offer the best of inner-city living, while offering buyers a place to set up a home office.
“A lot of people want to be downtown — you can live close to where your customers and clients are,” says Parham Mahboubi, vice-president of planning and marketing for Qualex-Landmark.
The eight townhomes are available in six spacious two-bedroom/two-bathroom floor plans ranging from 1,025 to 1,320 square feet, with space allotted on the second level for the home office/business. Park Point even provides space for owners to “hang their shingle” and properly market themselves, says Mahboubi, adding several extra parking stalls have been set aside for these suites.
“The upward trend of Canadians working from home suggests there is demand for live-work units,” says Qualex-Landmark president Mohammed Esfahani. “It’s very convenient to literally walk downstairs and be at work. You save time and money.”
Mahboubi says a wide range of businesses is possible, from a small law, design or accounting office to something that embraces Calgary’s arts community, such as a small gallery or studio. “And each live-work townhome is wired for business,” he says.
Park Point raises the bar for inner-city residences by offering a 24-hour concierge service — something, Mahboubi says, that can be utilized by owners of the live-work townhomes.
Other building amenities include a Zen terrace with water feature, indoor and outdoor social lounges with a fireplace inside, and a firepit and barbecue area outside with a Pilates sundeck offering a view of the park across the street.
Living and working in a great area is always a plus. Park Point is across the street from Central Memorial Park and Memorial Park Library.
Secured underground parking with bike maintenance stations and storage, is available, as well as wash areas for vehicles, bikes and dogs.
Prices for the live-work townhomes start in the $680,000s. Park Point also still has a wide range of one-, two- and three-bedroom suites available, with prices starting in the $250,000s.
